Affiliate marketing has made many millionaires, but whenever there is money there is theft. Thieves are a big issue out in this cruel and ruthless world and are a major concern for web business owners. Out in the brick and mortar world, thieves will snatch money and merchandise and it is the same story when it comes to internet.

The real world merchants use locks and alarms to keep thieves away from their property. Online businessmen have to use anti-theft software to shield their hard-earned commissions. Following are few things you can do to guard your lifetime earnings.

1. Use Meta Refresh: A Meta refresh is basically a simple HTML code which automatically redirects visitors to your affiliate link. It offers a smart way of incorporating affiliate links in newsletters. It most likely helps reduce commission bypassing and ultimately commission theft. A huge benefit of using meta refresh is that if retailers change their affiliate links, you are able to change links on dozens of pages rapidly and easily just by altering one file only.

One problem with Meta refresh is that some of the search engines don't like them because they are commonly used for nasty purposes. So if you intend to use them, use with great caution.

2. Use a URL redirection service. This is a free service that will redirect anyone who comes to your website to another URL that you have already specified in settings. You can either use a free service or purchase a different domain name for each affiliate program you join. URL redirection makes affiliate links less visible and thus will reduce chances of commission thefts.

3. Use a web-based ad tracking service. This is a great service to use. The ad tracking link initially masks the affiliate link and thus reduces possibility of your commission theft.

4. Use an ad tracking script. A good ad tracking script will hide the affiliate link in addition to being useful for tracking. It has the benefit that it doesn't promote another person's domain.

5. Use JavaScript redirect. Since this also works in a similar manner as ad tracking script and initially hides the affiliate link, it should reduce commission thefts.

Remember that commission theft is one of the major problems online businessmen are facing these days. One should be extremely careful and take the mandatory steps to protect your commissions. More Affiliate Marketing - 5 Ways Of Protecting Your Hard Earned Commissions Issues

If you are a Clickbank Affiliate you should be able to go into clickbank and get record of your payments. Do they notify you by email that you have been paid? Save those. Or, copy your checques before cashing.

Answer by venkatgenius
Did you pay anything before you become a clickbank affiliate? When I get into the site it is asking to pay $ 7 to get started with them.
