You may disagree with me, but hear me out: if you compare affiliate marketing to other business models, whether online or offline, there is really no contest.

Some experts even say that affiliate marketing is "the ultimate business."

Why?

Well, let's compare it against typical offline businesses like brick and mortar retail outlets.

In these types of offline businesses, you have accounts receivable; you have employees (and all the headaches associated with them); you have customers (and all the more headaches associated with them); you have to withhold taxes from employees to be paid to the government. You have inventory that you're stuck with if you can't sell. You have office lease expenses. Your initial capital outlay is huge (tens of thousands if not hundreds of thousands when talking about franchises).

Perhaps worst of all, almost all of your business is confined to a local level -- say 25 radius miles.

Affiliate marketing suffers from none of these disadvantages.

Now let's compare affiliate marketing to other online business models and see why it's superior and easier.

For most online businesses you have to deal with customers, develop products (whether physical or electronic -- think ebook); you have to build a brand and get out there and work to become known, and so forth.

Now, what about just straight affiliate marketing? I mean it in its purest form.

Let's see.

1) The costs are almost nonexistent.
2) Do you have an internet connection? Of course you do; you're reading this article, aren't you? Do you have a computer? Of course you do.
3) Can you afford 7 to 9 bucks a month for hosting?
4) Can you afford between 3.99 to 15 dollars a year to register a domain?

Other major advantages when you compare affiliate marketing to other business models include: not needing to develop your own product -- you can find other people who have already done all of the work in product creation.

You don't have a boss (huge one!). You can promote as little or as many affiliate programs as you want.

In short, you're a free agent. Let's continue...

5) You have no ceiling on your income.
6) You set your own hours.
7) You never have to deal with employees; you never have to deal with product shipments or customer complaints and refunds. As an affiliate, most customers don't even know who you are. Your web site is what interacts with them. Not you.

Add it all up and you should understand why affiliate marketing is a 7 billion dollar a year industry and growing fast.

Oh, and did I mention you can do it right from the comfort of your home? Like the commercial says, that's "Priceless."
