The market reacted negatively to the news. Yahoo's stock slumped more than 3 percent in after-hours trading on Thursday and continued its downward trend into Friday afternoon. Investors had originally cheered the company's plan to reward its shareholders. Mayer Mulls Putting Alibaba Cash to Work

Everyone has heard someone say "Google it" to refer to looking something up on the web, but did you know that it is Yahoo, not Google, that people go to for news? Yahoo is one of the most user-friendly web tools out there. It isn't just a search engine, it is a customizable start page for all your web trends. Whether you want to find where and when the next Twilight movie is playing or check the latest sports scores, it can all be done on Yahoo.

Yahoo's search engine is a powerful tool for Internet research. Because most information on the net is user created, there is equal amounts of fluff and serious content. Yahoo's advanced search functionality is based upon Boolean logic. Boolean Logic utilizes the words "and", "or" and "not" to create logical relationships (aka, "equations") among your search terms, thus narrowing your search and providing results more according to need.

Using Yahoo's advanced search to filter results will help you find the information you need and weed out a lot of the information that you don't.
For your convenience Yahoo has created a customizable homepage. You can choose what it is that you want to see when you start your day. Not only will you be able to search from the Yahoo start page, but you can choose whether you also see the news, and from which news source. You can choose to see your daily horoscope, link up to job searches, get up-to-the-minute weather, or even view personals and sports scores at the same time.

Pay Per Click

Like Google, Yahoo has a PPC program that will enable you to promote your company's product or service to millions of web viewers. Yahoo has close to two and a half billion searchers per month.

Their media toolkit allows you to choose a particular audience for your ads, and even the time of day you wish your ad to be displayed. Yahoo's tool provides keyword suggestions and allows you to test your ad and rotate it. Signing up for Yahoo advertising allows you to promote yourself across all of Yahoo's content pages and products. Yahoo's ad program uses the keyword methodology employed by Google. You may select keywords related to your service or products that will be used to determine your demographic. You are then responsible for creating a text ad that will promote your business. Yahoos program also allows you to select the maximum amount you wish to pay each time your ad is clicked on.

Like Google analytics programs, Yahoo provides all their customers with reporting tools that show you how well your ad is doing, allowing you to adjust it appropriately to meet your price, and your target demographic. Note: Yahoo provides an estimation tool that shows you what it will cost to implement the pay per click program based off your selected key words.

Privacy

Yahoo also manages to accomplish all of this without the Google "taint" or Google backlash. Privacy issues have been less talked about when referencing Yahoo. Yahoo allows its users easy opt-outs for marketing and interest-matched advertising, and they have not yet been involved in any internet privacy scandals, making them a kinder gentler alternative to Google.

Once you have the proper training you can sell basically anything online. Beside those you mentionned here are the other options you have. My advice would be to pick two methods and to really stick to them, being consistent is key. Article Marketing: Write articles, use an article submitter/spinner to duplicate your article (same article, several versions), send them to thousands of directories at the same time with links to your lead capture page. Articles submitters are very powerful to get back links. Twitter marketing: There are strategies that will allow you to directly access your target market, even if you don't have any followers. Social marketing: Facebook & Myspace strategies. Be carefull which MLM you join if you plan on signing up for one, and invest in some training so that you put all chances on your side. To your success, Hina Deane

I definitely agree that sticking with a select few methods and really learning those will be very beneficial to you. Otherwise you'll get frustrated and give up. Another piece of advice is to look for a few gurus out there and follow them within the social realm. Follow their tweets, follow them on Facebook, follow their blogs. They're gurus for a reason and they've been there and done that. Be careful though because anyone can create an ID online and say they're gurus so be sure they are legit. To get you started here's a list of over 20 legit professionals who are entrepreneurs, presidents, vice presidents and they're even university instructors. You can find all of these people here http://www.usanfranonline.com/internet-marketing-training/ Good Luck! Joe

Basically you need a solid content-oriented website. That should be first on your list.

if you are talking about making money with your own website, then try first making it popular among public so people do visit your site more frequently and increase your traffic. Once you get your traffic increased, automatically you get accepted to do any ads and ultimately you will make money from that.

my favourite affiliate programs are in the online gambling niche. the best thing about this niche is that once you sign someone up, say to a poker site, they will make their initial deposit (you get paid) and when they keep on playing you continue to get a percentage cut- long term passive income for doing absolutely nothing! you can get paid up to $ 200 bucks per signup! and then up to 50% share of the revenue they generate. imagine that- if you only signed up 1 a day you would make over $ 6,000 a month! and that doesnt even include your revenue share. why would you bother selling clickbank products which only pay you once? whats worse is you also have to deal with chargebacks- so often your hard work goes to waste because the customer didnt like the product. what i love about online gambling is that its such a big industry and its only growing. also, the market is international so you arent restricted to just your home country. many sites have stacks of promotions and banners for you to put on your site. this makes jazzing up your blog or website soooo easy. theres no need to do any ad copy writing and there are java script banners to ge the atention of your readers. these are my favourite (and most profitable) gambling affiliate programs. all of them are free to signup as a webmaster/affiliate. these sites offer you pretty much instantaneous registration so you could be making money in minutes- literally. you just need to get traffic and get people to sign up. if you already have a blog then you already have traffic. a free way of getting more traffic is to add links to your blogs on facebook to get more people seeing your ads. the top affiliates make over $ 1million a year. i am not making that much but you dont need a million a year to be happy ;) at least i don't anyway. so here are my top 3, i suggest you signup right now. 1) sportsbetting, horse racing, poker, casinos and ultimate fighting (great moneymaker!) up to 35% revenue commission go to: http://tinyurl.com/22m6ata and click on the "join now" button in the middle of the screen. 2) poker up to $ 200 per player and 35% revenue share go to: http://tinyurl.com/25ztskb and click on the "affiliates" button in the top right 3) bingo $ 50 per signup, 50% commission- it really surprised me how many people love to play bingo. i thought it was just for old people. go to : http://tinyurl.com/2cwr79o you can also win an ipad by signing up. sorry its such a long answer but i hope this gives you some ideas and helps you make some $ $ $
